Tea at the Museum
A perfect summary of my interests… History, Food and Society !
After a Bachelor in History and Sociology at the University of Geneva (yes, in Switzerland) I passed a Master in Contemporary History at the University of Birmingham (UK )
I chose Birmingham because they offered a special course on the British Home Front (1939-1945), one of my pet subject in History. My interest for food in British wartime led me to Mass Observation Archive (http://www.massobs.org.uk/) and I’m currently finishing a PhD on the impact of the Second World War on the food practices (and perspectives) of Middle-class British civilians.
But this interest is not limited to the war or the past. Food is a fascinating topic that I study from a multi-disciplinary approach that does not only focuses on history. I am interested in food and society, food and identity and culture, but also in current issues such as sustainability, food production, consumption, diet and health, and so on….
