Sounds yummy…
Ingredients:
Mashed potatoes (4 tablespoons)
Sugar (2 tablespoons)
Cocoa powder (2 tablespoons)
Flavoring: vanilla or almond essence
Mix all the ingredients in a firm paste, form balls and roll them in cocoa powder, then in chocolate vermicelli (if obtainable)
This recipe reflects quite well the solution found to keep an appearance of normality and its contrast with wartime reality, vermicelli were hardly obtainable… It also show the role played by newspaper in the Kitchen Front efforts.
